TORONTO –It wrapped filming in Toronto only weeks ago but already audiences are getting a taste of Pompeii.
A trailer released online this week offers a sneak peek at the epic movie starring British actor Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones) and Australian Emily Browning (Sucker Punch).
“Some prayed for help. Many wished for death,” declares a voice-over. “But in the city forever lost, the greatest secret still waits.”
The trailer then shows a buff Harrington walking towards the camera followed by quick flashes of scenes of battle and destruction. Harrington is also seen passionately kissing Browning.
Pompeii, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, was filmed at Toronto’s Pinewood Studios from March until July. It tells the story of a slave on a Naples-bound ship in the days leading up the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius who fights to save the woman he loves and his best friend.
The movie also stars several Canadians, including Kiefer Sutherland, Jessica Lucas, Carrie-Anne Moss, Joe Pingue and Currie Graham.
Pompeii is due in theatres in February.
