Global News is projecting that Conservative candidate Dan Albas has been re-elected in the riding of Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola.
The riding has historically voted Conservative, usually by large results, and Tuesday night followed the same pattern.
With 237 of 247 polls reporting as of 10:55 p.m., Albas, the incumbent, had 45.9 per cent of the riding vote.
Sarah Eves of the Liberals was second at 23.6 per cent, with Joan Phillip of the NDP in third at 20.5 per cent.
The win was Albas’ fourth in a row, having first been elected in 2011, when the riding was formerly known as Okanagan-Coquihalla.
In the Liberal wave across B.C. of 2015, Albas won by fewer than 1,500 votes. But the strong Conservative seat went back to normal two years ago, with Albas winning with almost 47.9 per cent of ballots.
This large riding encompasses Summerland, Princeton, Keremeos, Merritt and parts of Peachland and West Kelowna. It sits along the U.S. border.
