Liberal Party candidate David McGuinty is projected to win re-election in Ottawa South.
This riding of Ottawa South covers most of the city’s suburban south end, as well as the Ottawa International Airport and the Ottawa Hospital’s General campus.
Ottawa South voters re-elected McGuinty, a lawyer by trade, to represent the riding in 2019.
McGuinty, who has held the seat since 2004, collected 52.3 per cent of the vote, followed by Conservative candidate Eli Tannis, who garnered 24.5 per cent in the last election. The NDP’s Morgan Gay came in third place with 16 per cent of the vote, with Les Schram from the Green Party ending the night with 5.6 per cent.
Prior to McGuinty’s reign in Ottawa South, the riding was long held by Liberal John Manley, who served as deputy prime minister and finance minister under former prime minister Jean Chretien.
