SASKATOON – It has been two weeks since the highly anticipated Circle Drive South Bridge opened in Saskatoon.
Thousands of vehicles have crossed the new bridge but pylons, closures and detours remain at the Preston Avenue interchange.
Since last week, motorists leaving Stonebridge, Nutana and Eastview have not been able to head west on Circle Drive from this intersection.

The westbound ramps are expected to reopen at the end of the week followed by a new closure next week for the eastbound ramps at the same intersection.
The interchange wasn’t originally included as part of the massive $300 million Circle Drive South Project and is considered the last remaining job. It’s expected to be completed in October.
Although this portion is still a work in progress, traffic flow is being assessed in all other areas. In September, the city will complete a traffic count study in order to gauge the full effect the project has had.
There are no hard numbers at this point but reviews are positive and the city says traffic on 22nd Street as well as Idylwyld Drive has lessened.
Until summer dissipates and the Preston interchange opens, the city says the true effect of the project remains unknown, but so far so good.
