TORONTO — Canadian rap star Drake has broken his silence about a series of bizarre tweets by actress Amanda Bynes.

“I don’t even know who that is doing that or what that’s about,” Drake told XXL magazine. “If that is her, I guess it’s a little weird and disturbing.”

In March, Bynes tweeted: “I want @drake to murder my vagina.” She followed with a tweet calling Drake “ugly” but later apologized and said she hopes to become friends with him.

In June, Bynes used Twitter to accuse Drake of having “Down Syndrome” and to insult his mother.

“It’s obviously a behavioural pattern that is way bigger than me,” Drake said. “Whoever is behind it, whether it’s her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going.”

In the XXL interview, the 26-year-old Toronto rapper also credited his role on Degrassi: The Next Generation for his success.

“Do I think that if I didn’t have, for lack of a better term, a unique look about me, if I was from somewhere in America and if I hadn’t been on a kids TV show, would I be as famous? I don’t know, man,” he told the magazine. “Honestly, I don’t think so.”
