Police said officers spotted a suspicious vehicle near 17th Street West and Avenue.

A check found the registered owner had outstanding warrants, police said.

When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, police said it took off toward the downtown core.

The vehicle eventually went up Broadway Bridge where officers had deployed stop sticks at Saskatchewan Crescent.

Police said the vehicle struck a light pole and came to a stop when the driver attempted to avoid the stop sticks.

Two people in the vehicle were taken to hospital with what police say are serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The bridge was closed to traffic for over seven hours while collision analysts carried out the investigation.
