No serious injuries were reported after a fire broke out at an apartment on Dublin Street in Peterborough on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m.
Paramedics assessed several tenants who managed to leave the building, however, they tell Global News no one was transported to hospital.
According to platoon chief Don Broersma, tenants exited the building after a reported fire in the common kitchen area.
He said fire crews entered the building and breached a door to find a bedroom fully involved. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and a search of the room was complete.
“No residents were injured and only one occupant was displaced,” said Broersma.
Firefighters were seen removing a burnt mattress and a box spring from the building.
The cause of the fire has been deemed “undetermined” as of 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Damage is pegged at $5,000, according to Peterborough Fire Services.
