Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency were able to quickly knock down a large fire at a construction site in Halifax on Wednesday.
Multiple fire trucks, police units and ambulances responded to the scene of the fire, located on Columbus Street near Kempt Road.
Deputy fire chief David Meldrum told Global News that firefighters responded to the scene of the fire at approximately 9 a.m.
When they arrived, firefighters found a fire located outdoors involving a scissor lift and an exterior structure, he said.
The large, dark smoke clouds that could be seen as far away as Dartmouth, were the result of roofing materials catching fire, he added.

However, firefighters were able to quickly knock down the blaze and no injuries were reported.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency investigators are now on scene while the majority of fire personnel have since cleared the area.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Nova Scotia’s labour department confirmed they are investigating but said they did not issue a stop-work order at the construction site as the company voluntarily stopped work.
