UPDATE: ASIRT investigating officer-involved shooting in Grande Cache

File / Global News

EDMONTON – The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has been sent to Grande Cache to investigate an RCMP officer-involved shooting that injured a man Thursday night.

Clifton Purvis, the civilian director of ASIRT, told Global News an adult man was injured and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The man was shot just before midnight Thursday in a rural area outside Grande Cache.

Four ASIRT investigators arrived in Grande Cache Friday to look into the incident. They are still trying to determine the circumstances leading up to the man being shot by an RCMP officer. It is still early in the investigation, but Purvis believes the officer may have been responding to a traffic-related call.
