KFL&A Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at a downtown Kingston McDonald’s.
On Friday, the health unit said it had ordered the restaurant at 285 Princess St. to close after at least two cases were linked to the restaurant.
According to a statement sent out by the company Thursday morning, an employee at the location reported testing positive for the virus on Wednesday. A second statement from the fast food company, released early Thursday evening, said that an additional employee came forward to report they tested positive for COVID-19.
An employee at the McDonald’s in the Kingston Centre, on Sir. John A. Macdonald Boul. reported testing positive for COVID-19 on Friday. That location is also temporarily closed.
The restaurant was closed for cleaning over Wednesday evening, and reopened Thursday morning, only to be closed again later in the day by the health unit.
The first employee last worked on Nov. 6, from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. McDonald’s did not specify the last shift for the second employee that tested positive.
KFL&A Public Health did not specify how many cases are linked to the downtown restaurant. A workplace outbreak is declared when at least two lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 are found in the same workplace within a 14 day period, and at least 2 of those cases have a clear link of being acquired in the workplace.
