KELOWNA, B.C. — A woman is being investigated for impaired driving following an incident on Horizon Drive in West Kelowna Tuesday night.

Police say a late model Toyota 4Runner was travelling up Horizon Drive when the driver lost control on a hairpin turn, sending the vehicle off the road.

The female driver was taken from the scene by police.

“The vehicle fortunately did not sustain any damage because it didn’t go down the embankment,” says Cst. Micha Yakonowsky.  “The driver has been issued a 90 day roadside suspension and the vehicle will be impounded for 30 days.”

It’s not clear if speed was also a factor, but people who live above Horizon Drive say motorists drive very fast along that section of road and there have been a number of close calls at the hairpin turn.
