Police in the North Okanagan are investigating the shooting death of 27-year-old Zacheriah Bradley as a homicide.
According to police, Bradley was “covered in blood” and “in need of immediate medical assistance” when he got into the Coldstream home of a medical professional early Thursday morning.
The resident was able to use their medical training to care for Bradley until paramedics arrived and Bradley underwent emergency surgery at a hospital but didn’t survive.
The house where Bradley was found in medical distress is near Kalamalka Road and Howe Drive, police said.
His death is now being investigated as a homicide by the RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
While the investigation has been ongoing, Monday was the first time police confirmed there had been a fatality.
On Saturday, a home in the 8900 block of Kalamalka Road was at the centre of the police activity in the area.
Officers were coming and going from the property and several vehicles were towed away.

The house on which police were concentrating is just down the street from the home where neighbours said the victim was found.
There were also signs that someone with serious injuries, potentially Bradley, may have gone from home to home on the street.
What appeared to be blood stains were still visible Saturday on the road and the homes of at least two neighbours.
Police said they took the unusual step of releasing Bradley’s name in the hopes of generating more tips as they continue to investigate his death.
