Tropical storm Dorian swirls in eastern Atlantic

MIAMI – Forecasters say tropical storm Dorian is moving across the eastern Atlantic and remains far from land.

The storm’s maximum sustained winds late Wednesday were near 85 kilometres an hour.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says it is moving west-northwest across the Atlantic at 32 kmh.

The storm is centred about 990 kilometres west of the Cape Verde Islands, off the coast of west Africa.

There are no land threats, and little change in strength is expected over the next two days.
