CALGARY – City council is discussing the possibility of redeveloping the Stadium Shopping Centre in northwest Calgary.
The strip mall was built in the 1960’s, and a new proposal being debated by councilors is suggested it should be transformed into a mega plaza, with offices, retail space and a hotel.

However, University Heights residents are worried a new Area Development Plan (ARP) will lead to higher density and too much traffic in the area.
They also feel they have not been properly consulted, and that council is rushing to change things.
City council is now hearing both the pros and cons of the possible redevelopment at a public hearing.
