TORONTO — Actress Amanda Bynes was reportedly hospitalized Monday night on a 5150 hold — an involuntary admission for mental evaluation — after allegedly starting a fire outside a home in Thousand Oaks, California.
Celebrity website TMZ reported Tuesday the 27-year-old Hairspray star was taken in by police officers who found her standing over the small fire on the driveway of a private home.
Bynes can be held for up to 72 hours.
The star has made headlines recently for her bizarre behaviour, including posting strange tweets and walking around in various colourful wigs.
Last year, Bynes was arrested for DUI, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license after separate incidents.
She was charged in May with reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of marijuana after she allegedly tossed a bong out a 36th floor window in New York City.
TMZ reported that last Sunday, police responded to a trespassing complaint after Bynes allegedly tried to access a seniors home in Thousand Oaks. She was not arrested.
