Enthusiasm, curiosity and a passion for news is what Dana brings to the CHEK News team. This fourth generation Victorian is happy to be working in her hometown with all of her family and friends – who sometimes even prove to be good contacts. Dana has aspired to be a reporter for most of her life. She got her first taste on an exchange to Japan in 1990 where she worked with CHEK News’ sister station, IBC Broadcasting in Morioka.
She attended the University of Victoria, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Canadian History in 1997. After that she received her Diploma of Technology in Broadcast Communications and Media Relations from BCIT.
Dana is thrilled to be reporting and anchoring for CHEK News because it gives her the opportunity to meet many people and talk to them about their lives and experiences. She loves the adventure of piecing together a story.
When Dana is not on the job, she can sometimes be found walking the breakwater on Dallas Road because in Dana’s words “it is simply the best place on earth.”
