Rappers exaggerate their wealth: report

TORONTO — Most hip-hop stars are lying about their wealth, according to a report.

Bloomberg Businessweek used data from Forbes to create a chart showing the actual wealth of rap stars compared to their alleged wealth.

In the hit “Feel This Moment,” Pitbull raps: “I see the future but live for the moment / make sense don’t it / Now I make dollars / I mean billions.”

But according to Businessweek, he earned about $9.5 million in 2012.

Diddy boasts that he’s “worth about a billion” on the track “Shot Caller Remix” but has a net worth of around $580 million.

On last year’s “No Introduction,” rapper Nas brags about being “worth two hundred million now.” Businessweek figured he earned $6 million in 2012 — the same amount he owed the Internal Revenue Service in 2011.

On the 2011 Young Jeezy song “Ballin'” Lil Wayne claims “last year I made a hundred million dollars flat,” even though he reportedly earned $20 million in 2010.

Businessweek said 50 Cent earned $7.5 million in 2012, despite rapping on 2012’s “I’m On It” that “I blow a hundred million, make another hundred mill.”
