Man in serious condition after shooting at east-end Toronto mall

A 26-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a shooting at Scarborough Town Centre Friday afternoon, officials say.

Emergency crews were called to the mall, located near Brimley Road and Highway 401, just after 2:10 p.m. with reports of gunshots being fired.

A Toronto police spokesperson told reports the victim was shot once in his abdomen and taken to hospital by paramedics in serious, but non-life-threatening condition.

A Scarborough Town Centre spokesperson told Global News the shooting happened outside of entrance three, which is at the northwest section of the mall.

Police said an undisclosed number of suspects left the area in a dark-coloured SUV. In an update, the police spokesperson said a vehicle may have been found by officers.
