Volkow was passionate about improving opportunities for young people and was involved in the development of four youth centres and skateboard parks.

“Nick was a great guy, he was the man of the people, there was hardly anyone in this town who didn’t know him, his door was always open, and he was always willing to get a call and listen to things,” Coun. Colleen Jordan said.

He also worked as a truck driver for Safeway for nearly 40 years.

He was 67 years old.
