NHL agent’s memorial to go Wednesday at MTS Centre

WINNIPEG – A memorial service is planned for Wednesday afternoon at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg for NHL agent Don Baizley.

The 71-year-old lawyer who died of cancer two weeks ago was well-liked in the hockey community and represented a long list of past and present stars in the NHL.

Early clients included Anders Hedberg, Ulf Nilsson and Lars Erik Sjoberg.

They were some of the first Europeans to play in North America when the old Winnipeg Jets were in the World Hockey Association.

Later he represented NHL players including Teemu Selanne, Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Paul Kariya and Theoren Fleury.

Defenceman Tobias Enstrom of the current Winnipeg Jets was a client.
