WINNIPEG – The city is ending fogging for nuisance mosquitoes after treating much of the city’s northeastern quadrant on Sunday and Monday nights.
The fogging program is being suspended because of low mosquito activity, a news release says. The city-wide average adult mosquito trap count on Tuesday was 18, and all quadrants were substantially below 100, the release said.

The city will continue to monitor traps and resume fogging when counts are in the range of 100 in one or more quadrants of the city, the city said. A public service announcement will be issued eight hours before mosquito fogging resumes.
The city is continuing its larviciding and residual treatment programs.
Registration for a buffer zone continues with a 72-hour turnaround time. Anyone wanting a buffer zone must provide identification tying the applicant to the address being registered, such as a photocopy of a driver’s licence or a utility bill. Registration can be done:
- in writing to the insect control branch at 3 Grey St., R2L 1V2;
- by emailing 311@winnipeg.ca;
- by faxing 311; or
- in person at 1539 Waverley St.
More information is available on the city’s website.
