WINNIPEG – Family and friends gathered Thursday night to remember John James Lund, 25, who was stabbed to death on Prichard Avenue early Saturday.
Dozens of people attended the candlelight vigil outside the home where Lund was stabbed, writing messages about how much they miss him.
Lund’s death was one of three homicides on the Canada Day long weekend. All three were stabbing deaths.

Lund had gang ties, but family and friends said they’d remember his smile and kind heart.
“Any time you needed anything from JohnJohn, he would give it to you. He’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it,” said his aunt, Mary Burton. “He was very loving. He loved his nieces and nephews and his aunties and uncles, and he was always willing to do whatever he needed to do to help.”
Anton Joseph Biggeorge, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to Lund’s death. He was also charged with attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of another man in the same incident.
