PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A suspect is facing numerous charges after a tussle with a Prince Albert police dog on Tuesday morning.
At 10:15 a.m., PA police conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 55 for speeding. As an officer approached the vehicle, the suspect fled and engaged police in a short pursuit.
When the pursuit came to a stop, a 33-year-old male suspect abandoned the vehicle and hid in some thick bush.
Canine officer Jagger and handler Cst. Clint Rudderham were called in to track the suspect.
Police say the suspect refused to cooperate and then chose to actively resist and fight with Jagger, but in the end, the Prince Albert man was arrested.
He was taken to the Victoria Hospital with a bite injury, while Jagger remained unharmed and went right back to work.
The suspect was scheduled to appear in provincial court today, charged with theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police and disqualified driving.
