Stolen vehicle driver charged after police car rammed

File / Global News

SASKATOON – An 18-year-old Onion Lake man is facing at least nine charges following a Saskatoon police pursuit of a stolen Jeep on Saturday morning

Around 5:15 a.m., officers in the area of 20th Street and Avenue V noticed a Jeep that had been reported stolen the previous day.

During an attempt to stop the suspect vehicle, police say a male passenger assaulted the female driver before moving into the driver’s seat.

He reversed the vehicle, ramming into the patrol car and then engaged officers in a criminal pursuit on Circle Drive to Highway 16.

The Jeep turned onto a side road and stopped while the 25-year-old woman fled the vehicle. Officers then took both of them into custody.

The woman was not seriously injured during the incident.
