4 men charged in downtown Calgary homicide; victim identified

Calgary police have have charged four men in connection with the death of a man found injured in the downtown core over the weekend.

Stabbing

On Sunday, Jan. 5, officers were called to the area of 11 Avenue and 1 Street S.E. just before 5 a.m. for reports of a man in medical distress. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.

Calgary police previously confirmed to Global News the victim was stabbed.

On Tuesday, police identified the victim as Karson Goodeagle, 33, of Calgary. Goodeagle’s death is the city’s third homicide of 2020, police said.

Arrests

On Monday, officers arrested three people in connection with the deadly targeted attack, which police said was motivated by drugs.

On Tuesday, police said the men arrested have been charged with second-degree murder, identifying them as Dwayne Iyn Turner, 52, Tyrell Noskiye, 29, and Yahye Gabad, 23. They are scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The fourth suspect, Timothy Ashton Jones, 39, was found in Calgary on Wednesday, after a plea from police, and was also charged with second-degree murder.
