REGINA – The new student loan year is underway in Saskatchewan.

The province has $117-million available for students looking for loans for programs starting on or after Aug, 1, 2013.

That is a 20 per cent increase from last year’s budget and includes loans, bursaries, grants and scholarships.

Last year, about 57 per cent of financial assistance to students was non-repayable.

The government is encouraging students to fill out their applications early.
