Woman, 66, walking in wooded area punched in head by stranger: London police

London police are continuing to investigate an alleged assault Tuesday afternoon in the city’s northwest.

Police say a 66-year-old woman was walking along a trail in a wooded area on Foxcreek Road just before 4 p.m. Tuesday when a man yelled and then approached her.

Police allege the male suspect punched the woman in the head, causing her to fall to the ground, before fleeing north. The victim sustained minor injuries.

The incident prompted police to put out a call to the public for information about the suspect.

In a brief update Thursday afternoon, police announced they had identified the suspect in the case and thanked the public for their assistance.

No further information has been released by police.
