An officer spotted the suspects, who were seen rapidly stuffing something into their mouths, on Saanich Road a short time later.

Sgt. Dean Jantzen said the officer approached the suspects but they couldn’t speak because their mouths were full and — due the rapid consumption of ice cream — they were suffering “brain freeze.”

The suspects, aged 44 and 39, were handcuffed and searched but, other than ice cream on their faces, no evidence was found.
