REGINA – The federal government has increased the number of spots in Saskatchewan’s immigrant nominee program.
Provincial Economy Minister Bill Boyd says Saskatchewan is getting an extra 450 nominations this year.

The previous number of spots was capped at 4,000.
The increase is expected to translate into more than 1,200 additional newcomers to Saskatchewan each year.
That will be on top of 12,000 new residents that arrive in the province annually.
Saskatchewan had been lobbying the federal government to increase the number of immigrants allowed into the province to help deal with a shortage in skilled labour.
