TORONTO – Pape Station will be closed for 12 days in June to allow construction crews time to ramp up renovations.

The TTC conducted an online survey asking customers to choose between three options – closing the station for a period of time, closing the station temporarily or carrying on at an already delayed pace.

Customers overwhelmingly chose to close the station completely.

As a result, Pape Station will be closed to customers from Saturday, June 15 to Wednesday, June 26. It will re-open on the morning of June 27.

The station is a popular one and serves several bus routes as well as the subway.

During the closure, the 72 Pape bus will start its route at Broadview station and make its way north on Broadview Avenue, east on Mortimer Avenue and then south on Pape where it will return to its normal route.

The 81 Thorncliffe bus and the 25 Don Mills bus will operate out of Donlands Station.

During the closure, trains will bypass the station. The TTC suggests riders who usually board the subway at Pape Station instead get on the 81 Thorncliffe bus and enter the subway at Donlands Station.

The renovations of Pape Station started in 2009 and were supposed to be completed by 2012.

During the temporary closure, the TTC says crews will be working on floors, stairs, finishes, ceilings and the new bus waiting area.

Work on elevators, bike parking and landscaping is scheduled to be completed in September, and the second exit is expected to be finished in December.
