York Regional Police say a 23-year-old man is in custody after four people were found dead in a Markham home Sunday afternoon.
Police said officers were called to a home on Castlemore Avenue, near Mingay Avenue and southwest of Major MacKenzie Drive East and Markham Road, just before 3 p.m. with a report multiple people may have been injured.
“When our officers arrived, they were met by a man at the front door. That man was placed under arrest. We have a 23-year-old man at custody at this time,” Const. Andy Pattenden told Global News Sunday evening.
“Inside the residence, when our officers went in there they did locate four people deceased.”

Officers appealed for witnesses to come forward, calling the deaths “suspicious.”
The coroner was called to the scene. The people inside the home weren’t identified by police.
Pattenden said police were bringing in significant resources to assist officers on scene.

“We want to reassure the community that we do still have that person in custody. So it is an ongoing investigation,” he said.
