REGINA – After 18 years as president of the Regina Pats junior hockey team, Brent Parker has tearfully resigned, saying there’s been a lot of pressure and stress in the last five years.

Parker says that’s included his own diagnosis of cancer and the illnesses, accidents and deaths of some of the team’s former players and close friends.

He says there was also the issue of daily battles with the team’s building partner.

Parker says he’s putting family first after nearly 20 years of being away from home with the team, which is owned by his father.
