SASKATOON – The pest management supervisor for the city of Saskatoon says the long winter might mean fewer mosquitoes this summer.

Geoff McLeod says the water left behind by the heavy snow is drying up fast or soaking into the ground around Saskatoon.

He says the cool temperature of the water is slowing down the larval development as well.

Although the conditions are ideal he said that they still have to treat an area about 950 square kilometres with a biological larvicide.
