Man in 74-year-old photo resembles rapper Jay-Z

TORONTO — It’s no secret Jay-Z can do almost anything — rap, produce hit records, create a clothing line and make a baby with Beyonce — but can he travel through time?

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at New York Public Library posted this photo, taken in 1939 by Sid Grossman, and suggested the man on the right bears a resemblance to Jay-Z.

“Perhaps it was his great-grandfather taking a break in Harlem,” it said.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was born in Brooklyn in 1969.

The Schomburg Center posted the photo hoping someone can identify the man.

Similar old photos have appeared online showing doppelgängers of stars like Nicolas Cage and John Travolta.
