A woman was taken to hospital in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, after a fire broke out in a third floor suite of a core area apartment building. Sargent Avenue.
The blaze started just before 3:30 p.m. at 475 Sargent Avenue, a Manitoba Housing complex with seven floors and 50 suites.
Fire officials said the blaze started in the kitchen, and spread throughout the suite before crews got it under control.

A neighbor told Global News he heard pops and booms from his 6th floor suite, before he saw smoke of flames.
Another witness said flames were shooting out onto the patio when she arrived.
Fire officials are investigating, there’s no word on when other residents of the building will be allowed to return home.
