Police make three arrests in INKAS robbery investigation

TORONTO – Police announced Wednesday the arrests of three men in connection to the INKAS armoured truck company robbery that occurred in mid-April.

Cecil Stewart, 27, Aundre Hartwell, 29 and Devon Hartwell, 27 of Brampton have been charged with numerous offences including conspiracy to commit indictable offence, robbery while armed with a firearm and possession of proceeds of crime.

Authorities say one suspect is still outstanding.

Police say the arrests were made during an early morning raid in Brampton Tuesday morning.

Items seized include drugs, three motorcycles, two motor vehicles, furniture, appliances and close to $117,000 in cash.

It is alleged that two of the suspects, who had covered their faces to avoid identification, entered the INKAS Security Services Company facility on April 14, 2013 at 64 Signet Dr.

The men proceeded to tie up one employee and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A third suspect waited outside with a get-away car.

Police say some of the stolen funds may have come from the Toronto Transit Commission, but the money belonged to INKAS Security at the time of the theft.

The accused are scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
