Tickets went on sale at 10 am on Ticketmaster this morning with an individual purchase limit of 8. Some fans who were unable to purchase tickets took to social media to express their frustration.

Kayla Lindgren is a self-declared Garth Brooks super-fan who once launched a Facebook campaign to bring the country singer to Regina. She managed to score a couple of seats, but has friends who weren’t so lucky. She said the sale process, which involved a digital waiting room set up an hour before the on-sale time, was faulty.

“Some had front row tickets and were kicked out, some were at the front of the line and were kicked out,” she said. “I think it’s a huge technology error on Ticketmaster’s end and there needs to be some major improvements.”

Lindgren, who has seen Brooks four times in the past, says something else irked her about the Regina sale. She said Brooks usually uses a ticketing system that requires the owner of the credit card used to purchase the tickets to be present at entry. She says the system is designed to help prevent ticket resale, but it wasn’t in place this time around.

“I was on Stub Hub out of curiosity while I was waiting in the queue today and there were hundreds of tickets already and that’s how we know scalpers took advantage of this.”

Others who were unable to snag seats voiced their desire for Brooks to add a second show in Regina.

However, Regina Exhibition Association Limited CEO Tim Reid said that at this point, another show isn’t being planned.

“Our discussion has always been about one date. We’re just really thrilled that we’ve got this one date in Canada and it’s the only one right now. At this point we haven’t had any more discussions,” he said.

The concert was announced last month and billed as the first country concert to be held at Mosaic Stadium. The stadium can hold over 33,000 people in its standard arrangement, but can be expanded to accommodate 40,000.
