A 34-year-old man has been transported to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries after an early morning shooting in Oshawa on Friday.
Durham Regional Police said they received several calls about the sounds of gun shots near Rossland Road West and Thornton Road North after 3 a.m.
The victim and friends were driving north on Thornton Road when they stopped for a traffic light at an intersection, according to police. Shots were fired at the vehicle while it was stopped at the light and the victim was struck.
He was taken to a local hospital by friends, but was later transported to a Toronto trauma centre, police said. He remains in stable condition.
Police said the shooting may be related to an earlier incident in the area of Whisky John’s Bar and Grill and the BOSS Shisha Lounge on King St. West in Oshawa.
The area of the shooting is closed for a police investigation. Police are advising people to avoid the area.
