Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Thunder Bay and surrounding areas.

A cold front is expected to slip south and position itself from eastern Lake Superior to Timmins Wednesday night. Snow and ice pellets are forecast across regions to the north of Lake Superior, and a band of freezing rain is also likely from Marathon to Wawa.

The area can also expect between 2 to 4 centimetres of snow tonight; some areas north of Lake Superior could even receive up to 10 cm.

But relief is in sight: Thunder Bay is forecast for a high of 14 degrees on Sunday.
