HALIFAX – Samuel Asselin’s goal at the 7:54 mark of the second period was the eventual winner as the Halifax Mooseheads defeated the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 5-1 on Tuesday in Game 4 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final.

The best-of-seven series for the President Cup is now tied 2-2.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx, Jocktan Chainey, Arnaud Durandeau and Maxim Trepanier also scored for the Mooseheads, while Alexis Gravel made 29 saves for the win.

Peter Abbandonato scored for the Huskies and goaltender Samuel Harvey kicked out 32 shots.

Halifax went 1 for 4 on the power play and Rouyn-Noranda was 1 for 6 with the man advantage.

Game 5 will be in Rouyn-Noranda, Que., on Thursday.

Both the Huskies and the Mooseheads have already qualified for the Memorial Cup, Canada’s national major junior hockey championship. Halifax is in as the tournament’s host, making Rouyn-Noranda the default QMJHL representative.
