WHL Roundup: Tuesday, April 23, 2019

SPOKANE, Wash. – Jake McGrew scored 8:51 into overtime as the Spokane Chiefs edged the Vancouver Giants 3-2 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League playoff action.

Vancouver holds a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference final.

Eli Zummack and Luke Toporowski had goals in regulation time for Spokane, while Bailey Brkin made 27 wins for the win.

Jared Dmytriw’s power-play goal with less than three minutes remaining forced the extra period for the Giants and Justin Sourdif also scored.

David Tendeck stopped 35 shots for Vancouver.

The Chiefs didn’t score on their one power play and the Giants were 1 for 2 with the man advantage.

EDMONTON — Vince Loschiavo scored twice as the Oil Kings beat Prince Albert to take a 2-1 series lead.

Conner McDonald put away the winner for the Oil Kings at 9:48 of the second period. Matthew Robertson and Josh Williams also scored for Edmonton.

Sean Montgomery replied for the Raiders.
