Toronto police say a woman in her 60s is dead after being struck by a TTC bus in downtown Toronto.
Toronto paramedics say they responded to a call around 6:30 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street.
“We got information that a TTC bus was involved in the collision,” Sgt. Brett Moore said.
“We’re working with the TTC to figure out how the bus, it did strike the woman, we know that. We don’t know if it was the first vehicle or other vehicles involved.”
Authorities said a female pedestrian was taken to a trauma centre for treatment but succumbed to her injuries.
“We do know the woman was crossing the street. She was found by witnesses and when officers got on scene, in the middle of the intersection,” Moore said.

The circumstances of the collision are unknown.
The area of Bloor and Sherbourne streets was closed for several hours for the investigation but reopened just before 11 a.m.
“We are hoping that there are other witnesses and folks in other businesses that have surveillance video that we can have access to,” Moore said.
