Edmonton – Edmonton police have arrested and charged 12 members of an alleged gang.

A large scale investigation by the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement and Northeast Division that started last year has ended with the 12 arrests, dozens of charges being laid, and seizures of drugs, vehicles, weapons, and cash.

“As part of the EPS Violence Reduction Strategy, police launched a special investigation in 2012 to address the increase of violence and criminal activity with suspected organized crime groups,” says Supt. Brad Ward with Northeast Division.

Trevor Terry, Shane Terry, Chad Costello, Brandon Jarvis, Katie Fata, Cody Bradshaw, Tyler Gamble, Sheldon King, Matthew Terry-Costello, Kaeleah Merrick, and Cody Dixon are facing more than 40 charges in total.

Investigators say the individuals are part of a “some what sophisticated” gang that has been operating in Edmonton for several years.

“They have not self identified, and they officially do not have a name.  What I can tell you is the core group is a network of a family,” says Acting Detective Mike Dreilich.

“We’re satisfied we have dismantled this organization.”

The charges against the alleged gang members include conspiracy to commit murder, participating in a criminal organization, conspiracy to traffic, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say they can’t give details about the conspiracy to commit murder charges because “it’s an on-going investigation and the matter is before the court.”

Some of the items seized include one kilogram of cocaine, 122 grams of marijuana, a loaded hand gun, about $95,000, and six vehicles.

The next court appearance for majority of the alleged gang members is Tuesday, April 30.

Police arrested another man last Saturday. He’s allegedly connected to this criminal organization.

Cody Sangster is charged with participating in a criminal organization and conspiracy to traffic.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, May 6.
