Police seek to identify driver after pedestrian struck by vehicle in Waubaushene

Police are seeking to identify a suspect after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Waubaushene.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP say sometime between 8:05 and 8:35 p.m., on Wednesday, a 15-year-old male was struck by a southbound vehicle on Pine Street in Waubaushene.

Police say the vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene.

Officers say the youth was transported to Georgian Bay General Hospital and was later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre for treatment of his serious injuries.

Police are now searching for a small, dark-coloured car with dark tinted windows and a loud exhaust.

Officers say the vehicle was seen headed west on Highway 12 from Pine Street.

According to police, the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
