Peterborough March for Meals campaign in full swing for 2019

Meals on Wheels providers across Ontario have officially kicked off their March for Meals campaign.

For a $10 donation, you can enjoy a fresh chicken sandwich or salad with lemon-thyme goat cheese and a roasted tomato soup.

Volunteers from Community Care Peterborough will deliver a neatly-packaged meal directly to your workplace during any Wednesday in March. This year, all the meals are prepared at The Mount Community Centre’s new kitchen, in partnership with the Community Training and Development Centre.

All donations go directly to the Meals on Wheels program, a not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing nutritious meals, daily check-ins and comfort to local seniors.

March for Meals is also aimed at increasing awareness and community engagement.

Individuals can also choose to donate an additional $10 which will help provide a meal at no charge to a senior who can’t afford it themselves.

Last year, the March for Meals campaign in Peterborough delivered lunches to 48 different companies, who donated more than $3,000.

This year, organizers hope to deliver 600 meals and raise $4,000 in donations.

On Wednesday, employees of Corus Radio and Global Peterborough donated nearly $500 dollars to the campaign and enjoyed a fresh lunch.
