Alcohol believed to be factor as truck crashes off Anthony Henday overpass: police

A man drove his truck off an Anthony Henday Drive overpass, onto a road below and walked away with minor injuries on Tuesday morning.

Police said a Ford F-150 was travelling west on the Anthony Henday when it lost control and collided with several guard rails along the median before launching off the overpass and landing on Parsons Road.

The 24-year-old driver was taken to hospital as a precaution and released later Tuesday morning with no reported injuries, police said.

Investigators said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.

Parsons Road between 13 Avenue and Ellerslie Road remained closed for several hours as officers investigated the crash.

Anthony Henday westbound was also reduced to two lanes at Gateway Boulevard, but was fully reopened later in the morning.
