A wanted 28-year-old Oakville man was arrested on Highway 6 in Flamborough after leading Hamilton police on a chase that ended with several charges.

Police say they attempted to pull over the Lexus Crossover just after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, after the driver was reportedly travelling 127 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Officers say they “activated emergency equipment” but the driver failed to stop.

The vehicle eventually pulled onto the shoulder after the driver was boxed-in by police at Concession 6. Officers say the driver attempted to escape by ramming police vehicles before being pulled from his car and placed under arrest.

Police say the man had two outstanding warrants for a “violent crime incident” and a “previous alcohol-related driving offence.” Police say he was also driving under the influence of alcohol with a suspended licence at the time of Wednesday’s arrest.

The 28-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Hamilton court Wednesday to answer for multiple charges of impairment, as well as driving with a suspended licence, dangerous driving, flight from police, and having both alcohol and cannabis readily available while driving.
