TORONTO — A 33-year-old Hamilton man has been charged in connection with an alleged violent sexual assault in the city’s downtown core last week.
Hamilton police said two women were walking in the Main Street East and Holton Avenue South area at about 3 a.m. on Friday, when they were approached by an unknown man.
The man allegedly tried to engage the women in conversation, but police said the women began to run from him and he chased them to the intersection of King Street East and Gage Avenue South and allegedly assaulted, choked an sexually assaulted the two women.

Police said the women defended themselves against the alleged attack and the man received injuries before fleeing the area.
Chad Leonard Scally, 33, of Hamilton, was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault and two counts of choking.

Police continue to investigate and believe there may be more alleged victims that have had contact with Scally.
