FRAM Building Group Ltd. is no longer taking part in the development of the downtown core and beachfront lands in Wasaga Beach, town officials say.

In a statement released on Friday, Wasaga Beach Mayor Nina Bifolchi said she was disappointed by the announcement.

“I am extremely disappointed that Mr. Frank Giannone, president of FRAM, used Facebook to announce his company will not be a part of the development of our downtown core and our beachfront lands,” Bifolchi said.

Wasaga Beach council chose to let the letter of intent with FRAM lapse in December in order to begin a review of the development of town-owned lands in the downtown and beachfront areas.

“On behalf of residents, this was a responsible course of action by our newly elected council as the previous council approved the LOI near the end of its term,” Bifolchi said in the statement.

According to the release, council is now working through a process to review the development of the beachfront lands.

“FRAM had expressed interest in working with the new council on the redevelopment of the beachfront and I would encourage FRAM to reconsider its position,” Bifolchi said. “FRAM is welcome to bring its ideas to the council table for consideration.”

According to Bifolchi, a builder and developer forum will be convened of the over half a dozen developers who are active in the town to discuss their ideas for the future development of the beachfront.
