7 charged in Sudbury drug-trafficking investigation: police

Police say seven people have been charged in connection with a drug-trafficking investigation in Sudbury.

The Greater Sudbury police say over the last few months, officers received complaints of individuals allegedly trafficking drugs from two residences on Pine Street.

Police say following an investigation, two search warrants were executed.

Officers say the first search warrant was executed on Feb. 9.

As a result, police say 60 grams of cocaine, 58 capsules of hydromorphone, two fentanyl patches, 16 methylphenidate pills and one amphetamine pill were seized.

Police estimate the value of the drugs seized is $13,000.

Officers say $6,105 in cash was also seized during the search.

Police say a 28-year-old man, two 26-year-old men, and a 21-year-old woman were arrested and were each charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

On Feb. 22, police say officers executed another search warrant at a second residence.

Police say 24.5 grams of cocaine, 2.17 grams of fentanyl, 0.9 grams of methamphetamine and 11 fentanyl patches were seized.

Officers estimate the street value of the drugs seized is $6,500.

Approximately $17,000 in cash was also seized during the search, police say.

Officers say a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman located inside the residence at the time of the search were arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police say a 41-year-old man was also arrested and charged with the same offences, as well as two counts of breach of probation.
